ôTwo years might sound like a long time to produce
an album. But I spent roughly the same amount of
time on ôFuture Memoriesô as on my previous LPsô,
AndrÚ explains. The methodology was different this
time around, however. ôUnlike the last album, which
was very much based on classic songwriting and real
instruments, ôFuture Memoriesô has more of a focus
on keyboards and synthesizers again. I wanted to
get back to my roots in electronic sounds,ô ATB
continues. Of course, both AndrÚ Tanneberger and
his music have developed further, adding new,
refined touches to the classic ATB sound. Tempo is
of the essence on the new recordings, raising the
bar higher than ever for a trance album. Hence
ôFuture Memoriesô features four tracks which clock
in at over 165 beats per minute. Anyone who thinks
this signals a departure into hardcore or techno by
ATB would be mistaken. In spite of their high
speed, these songs still have that essential ATB
soul. Meanwhile, ôFuture Memoriesô also serves up a
number of ATB tracks as the fans know and love them
ľ indeed the sound which has won ATB so many loyal
fans over the years. The tracks registering over
165 bpm are there to get people to think more
deeply about the album, as AndrÚ explains
ôcontroversy makes it more interesting, it gets
listeners to engage with the album more intenselyô.
Heĺs certainly achieved that with flying colours,
judging by the heated debate in forums in advance
of the release already. ôFuture Memoriesô contains
26 tracks on two CDs. One with driving, melodic
club music, the other in a more ambient style. ôOn
my other albums I used the 2nd CD to show my fans
another side of ATB. Same again with ôFuture
Memoriesô. I love ambient music, love listening to
it and producing songs in the genre, I find it
enjoyable and relaxing. Most of these songs were
created at home in a more intimate environmentô ATB
points out. It goes without saying that AndrÚ has
collaborated with other artists for the new album.
This has been one of his trademarks over the past
decade. This time, there are songs with Roberta
Carter Harrison, Haley and Josh Gallahan, no
strangers to connoisseurs of earlier ATB records.
Betsy Larkin and Aruna are two brand new guests on
the album. Fans of ATBĺs instrumental tracks will
also find plenty to keep them happy.

Man mag es nicht glauben, aber es ist bereits 10
Jahre her, dass ATB uns mit seinem Album äMovin
Melodiesô ein Zeichen setzte. 10 Jahre, in denen
AndrÚ Tanneberger mehrfach den Globus umreiste, um
die Fans auf der ganzen Welt mit seinen ganz
speziellen DJ-Sets in den Bann zu ziehen. Eine
Dekade, die uns mit dem aktuell im Mai
erscheinenden, neuen ATB Album äFuture Memoriesô
acht Longplayer bescherte und uns den Alltag mit
einfŘhlsamer elektronischer, melodi÷ser und doch
treibender Musik versch÷nerte. Dabei darf man auf
seine neue CD besonders gespannt sein. Erstmals
wurde nńmlich die Regel durchbrochen, in jedem Jahr
einen Longplayer zu ver÷ffentlichen. Und so hat
äFuture Memoriesô einen Reifeprozess von zwei
Jahren durchlaufen, der aber nicht unbedingt so
geplant war. Vielmehr war es durch ATBs zahlreiche
internationale Auftritte und Touren in den letzten
zwei Jahren einfach nicht m÷glich, ein Album Řber
mehrere Monate am StŘck zu produzieren.
äFuture Memoriesô enthńlt 26 Tracks auf zwei CDs.
Eine Seite mit treibender, melodi÷ser Clubmusik,
die andere erneut im Ambient-Stil. äAuf den letzten
Alben wollte ich den Fans auf CD2 einfach meine
andere Seite prńsentieren. So auch auf äFuture
Memoriesô. Ich liebe Ambient, h÷re es unheimlich
gern und Songs dieses Genres zu produzieren, macht
mir einfach Spa▀ und entspannt mich. Diese Songs
entstehen dann meist auch bei mir zu Hause in ganz
intimer Atmosphńre,ô beschreibt ATB.
NatŘrlich hat AndrÚ fŘr sein neues Album auch mit
anderen KŘnstlern zusammengearbeitet. Auch das ist
in den vergangenen zehn Jahren zu einem seiner
Markenzeichen geworden. Diesmal sind Songs mit
Roberta Carter Harrison, Haley und Josh Gallahan,
die man schon von anderen ATB-Alben her kennt,
entstanden. Mit Betsy Larkin und Aruna finden sich
aber auch zwei v÷llig neue Stimmen auf dem
Longplayer. Aber auch die Fans der ATB Instrumental
Tracks kommen nicht zu kurz.
